Welcome fellow readers!
Most of my childhood, teen, and adult memories have involved getting sucked into the pages of a book. When the siren call of a book overwhelms me, I drop everything and sink into the beautiful words and only emerge when I turn the last page with a sigh of pure emotion. I love the high that a great book brings! The lingering sense of being somewhere else for a while is better than chocolate, a runner’s high, or the soreness of belly laughs. These are some of my favorite things, so that’s saying a lot.
I remember reading Cornelia Funke’s Inkheart for the first time in 2003 and feeling a distinct kinship with all the book quotes at the beginning of each chapter. Most of the referenced books were ones that I loved deeply, and reading my favorite snippets was like welcoming an old friend. For the first time, I realized that other people love reading just as much as I do. I wanted to replicate that feeling of kinship on this blog with a place to share our favorite books and talk about why we love them. Come share your favorite books of the week with me. Oh, this is going to be a hoot! Here goes: One of my favorite contemporary series is the Longmire mystery series set in modern-day Wyoming. Stellar writing and finely crafted characters. Henry Standing Bear has the best lines.
